Dr Jonathan Roland and colleagues describe an innovative addition to the diabetes care team. A new role, the Diabetes Care Technician (DCT), has been developed, evaluated and implemented in Peterborough. This role is highly cost effective, obtainable and a quality improving contribution to the Diabetes National Service Framework (NSF) implementation.
