DAIS: how it relates to other lipid intervention studies in diabetesRoom NUW 9-107, Toronto General Hospital, 200 Elizabeth Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada, M5G 2C4, george.steiner{at}utoronto.ca The Diabetes Atherosclerosis Intervention Study (DAIS) was a multicentre, double-blind, randomised, placebo controlled, angiographic trial of the effects of fenofibrate on lipoprotein abnormalities in people with type 2 diabetes. Fenofibrate improved the lipid profile and retarded the progression of coronary artery disease. DAIS and its implications are considered within the context of other major lipid studies.
